Yes, the information technology era has arrived, and it is here to stay. Its presence can
be felt among every age group and no longer confines itself to keying in important data in
offices. This emergence and even dependence of the computer as an irreplaceable device in
offices, hospitals, scientific establishments and even homes, has given rise to a number
of organizations the world over, catering to a user's needs, no matter how diverse. In
India, Karnataka has shown one of the most positive responses in providing the necessary
infrastructure and subsidies to promote the growth of the information technology industry.
Though Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh too are determined not to lag behind in the race to
modernization, Karnataka's leading edge over them is very clear. The second phase of the
Singapore based information technology park is almost sold out already. GE and numerous
other global corporate gains are planning to come to Bangalore. And with the Central
Government's approval of the city's proposed international airport, there is no doubt that
Bangalore is the reigning IT capital of the country.
As a result of the phenomenal growth of the IT industry in the state, the real estate
industry which until recently has plunged to an all-time low is now showing clear signs of
mixing confidently ahead. Builders and real estate developers are coming forward to
announce mega projects, both commercial and residential.
The route from all along the way from the Airport to Whitefield, is now the hub of real
estate activity. Though the bubble like boom of 1995-96 may not be seen again, one can
surely sea the market is stable and there is an upward movement in real estate prices. The
prices will however, not for beyond the acceptable range.
Civic projects life the underpass, completion of ring road, flyovers connecting various
parts of the city etc. have all made the world sit up and take notice of that little dot
on the map called Bangalore. This in turn has given the real estated developers much to
look forward to.
