Om Puri happens to be a mafia don who dies
leaving behind wealth worth millions. This starts a war |
|
between his son-in-law, Guru Gulab Khatri
(Akshay Kumar) and his only son, Vikrant (Rahul Dev). Guru is married to Vikrant's
step-sister, Preeti (Preeti Jhangiani). The will left by Om Puri demands that the diamonds
worth crores lying in a foreign bank, can be claimed by the three once they are present to
sign the papers. Vikrant, in order to acquire all the wealth for himself gets Guru wrongly
involved in an assassination case whereby Guru is forced to leave to US leaving his wife
Preeti behind. Vikrant announces a cash reward to anybody who informs him Guru's
whereabouts. Meanwhile, Guru befriends Anmol (Aftab Shivdasani), his neighbour and a
doctor by profession. Anmol is forced by his greedy wife Mona(Amrita Arora) and mother
Supriya to take advantage of the situation and claim the |
|
prize money by informing Vikrant of Anmol's
whereabouts. So, Anmol and his father Manilal (Paresh Rawal) reach India but are trapped
by Yeda Anna (Sunil Shetty) and Chotta Chhatri (Johnny Lever). Anna is a supari killer who
has offered Vikrant to kill Guru in lieu of the prize money. What happens next? Who takes
the diamonds, is something film "Awara Pagal Deewana" will tell us.
Awara Pagal Deewana comes forth with a heavy star cast, extraordinary stunts, great
humour, mesmerising locales and much more. It is a remake of the popular Hollywood flick,
"The Whole Nine Yards". The film is a decent mix of action and comedy. This
movie is one of the most stylish thrillers in |
|
|
|
Indian cinema. Although the script isn't
anything great, technically, the film has certainly made lot of improvement.
Director Vikram and his team manage to keep the first half of the film as interesting as
possible. There are many instances in the film which are pretty unnatural and difficult to
digest. Though the screenplay isn't really that great in this movie, technically the film
is at it's best. Anu Malik's music is good as usual. The songs are equally paced and in
accordance with the sequences of the movie. Dialogues by Neeraj Vora are indeed
praise-worthy. Producer Firoz Nadiadwala has spent a lot on this movie and that is quite
obvious in this movie. |

Performance wise, Paresh Rawal steals the
show though everyone else deserve decent amount of appreciation, the bottom-line being
everyone has acted well in the movie. Paresh Rawal does the comedy part very well and
certainly deserves an award. Akshay |
Kumar is brilliant and he fits into this
role like a glove. Sunil Shetty is good but doesn't have much scope. Aftab
Shivdasani is surprisingly very good. Johnny Lever is superb and his scenes with Paresh
Rawal and Aftab Shivdasani are pretty enjoyable. The three ladies - Preeti Jhangiani,
Amrita Arora and Aarti Chabbria are just glam dolls in this movie and have nothing much to
perform. Rahul Dev does a good job. Supriya is OK.
On the whole, Awara Pagal Deewana will appeal to most and will do a fairly good job in
most places. Stunt and comedy lovers will thoroughly enjoy this movie.. |
