Badhai Ho Badhaai is finally here after a long wait and we get to see Shilpa Shetty and Kirti Reddy. This film is the story of two families, the Chaddas (Amrish Puri, Farida Jalal) and the D'Souzas (K. Vishwanath, Rohini Hattangady) who are neighbours but are not in friendly terms or rather are hard core enemies of each other. One fine day, the families receive letters from a stranger, Raja (Anil Kapoor) who claims to be their grandchild and insists on staying with them. Obviously, Raja is not accepted by either of the two families when he lands up and is rejected, he is not left with any choice but to stay with a singer (Kader Khan). Raja doesn't give up and decides to win the hearts of the two families. He succeeds in doing so but that is not the end of his story since his grandparents now force him to get married. In order to avoid the situation, he says that he is already married to a girl named Banto Betty who is nothing more than an imaginary character for Raja. Raja actually happens to be in love with Florence (Keerti Reddy) who happens to be a sweet Catholic girl. But Florence is in love with someone else (Vinay Jain).

To make matters complex and to Raja's surprise, Banto Betty (Shilpa Shetty) actually lands up one fine day and claims to be Raja's wife. She in fact happens to be the grandchild of the two families and her purpose is to unite the two families. What happens finally is a complete filmi remix and the climax turns out to be really boring.

The film starts off with a good and comic note making audience roll into peels of laughter at frequent intervals but it is a complete mess after the interval. Director Satish Kaushik has tried his best to make this film different and a comedy but the mere fact that he has borrowed ideas from various Hollywood and Bollywood films makes the outcome very confusing and baffles the audience. Screenplay by Kavita Choudhary is OK. She needs to improve a lot before writing again. Cinematography by Rajiv Jain is mediocre. Dialogues are OK but the ones delivered by Suresh Menon are Anil Kapoor are indeed witty. Music by Anu Malik is pleasing, the popular number being "Mere dil bata". The background music by Naresh Sharma is excellent.

Performance wise Anil Kapoor is the best. His looks and acting in this film bear testimony to the fact that he is one of the best that Bollywood has now. He excels in the comic role of his. Shilpa Shetty with her crude Punjabi accent and indecent costume isn't at all good. She is wasted in this movie. Keerti Reddy doesn't have much to perform. Instead Vinay Jain as a newcomer leaves an impact in the small role of his. Suresh Menon and Govind Namdev are brilliant. Kader Khan and Amrish Puri are routine. The others in the supporting cast are OK.

Overall, the film can be watched if one has nothing better to do on a weekend and by fans of Anil

Kapoor. Better luck to Satish Kaushik for his next venture.
