Dil Hai Tumhara is the story of a mother and
her two daughters. The mother, Sarita (Rekha), an influential widow has two daughters, |
|
Shalu (Preity Zinta) and Nimmi (Mahima
Choudhry). Shalu and Nimmi are completely different from each other in nature but are very
fond of each other. Shalu is fun loving and spirited whereas Nimmi is feminine and
extremely gentle. Though she is liked by everybody and makes friends everywhere, she is
not liked by her own mother who loves Nimmi much more and undermines Shalu.
Dev (Arjun Rampal), the son of a successful business tycoon Alok Nath comes to India to
close the operations of a factory that the local people are very dependent on. In the
process, he falls in |
|
love with Shalu and Shalu too falls for him.
As fate would have it, Nimmi too falls in love with him and this is when Saritaji tries
her best |
to see that Nimmi gets her love. Shalu too
realises that Nimmi is in love with Dev an hence decides to sacrifice her love. She takes
the help of her friend Sameer's(Jimmy Shergill). Sameer is in love with Shalu. Finally,
Sarita realises her mistake and accepts Shalu.
The movie is nicely done and the relationship of a mother and a daughter has been well
treated. Though the storyline is old, Kundan Shah has worked hard on it to give it a new
look and dimension. The initial reels are OK and it is only after interval that the story
picks up. The subject has been treated in such a way that the audience sympathises with
the protagonist. The script |
|
|
has been written by Rajkumar
Santoshi and Kundan Shah himself. |
|
Performance wise Preity Zinta is at her best again. It seems she thoroughly enjoys doing
this knd of roles. She has worked hard on this role of hers and manages to please the
audience. Mahima too has acted very well and her expressions are worth watching. Rekha's
performance is brilliant as usual and this role seems to be tailor-made for her. Jimmy and
Arjun have nothing much to perform in this woman oriented movie. Alok Nath and Govind
Namdev are OK.
Music by Nadeem Shravan deserves a good deal of appreciation. The numbers 'Mohabbat',
'Kasam Khha Ke Kaho', 'Dil Laga Liya' and the title track are among the popular
lot. |

Overall, the movie will appeal to most and all women are going to love it.
