Everyone seems to be talking about the showdown between the former models Aishwarya Rai and Bipasha Basu. Of course it did take quite a bit of courage from Aishwarya’s end to release her home production on the same day since the competition was using the "sex sells" route. But at the end of the day, it was a battle of scriptwriters. Jism had Mahesh Bhatt and Dil Ka Rishta had Ash’s mom Brinda Rai. The outcome was as expected. A failure that would make Hitler’s Germany look good.

The story revolves around Jai (Arjun Rampal) a handsome businessman from South Africa. He and his friend (played by Isha

Koppikar) come to India as part of a fund raising plan and that is where he meets Tia (Aishwarya Rai). Jai is immediately infatuated by her and tries all he can to get through to her but all in vain because her heart belongs to someone else. To this person she gets married and eventually the couple has a baby but an accident means that Tia is now a widower and that to thanks to Jai’s carelessness. Jai takes the responsibility of taking care of her and it turns out that Tia is suffering from amnesia. Jai and his dad cook up a story about how Jai and Tia were the best of friends and that the child she bears is actually Jai’s so it is her responsibility to see that the baby is taken care of Jai, Tia and her mom leave for South Africa. Slowly, Tia finally grows to like and love Jai but the guilt within him keeps him away from her. When she asks him

to marry her he refuses and in a fit of sadness she leaves and that is when he must face the truth about the past. Oddly, Tia takes this well and decides to marry him anyway!

As mentioned earlier, the script is flawed. For a home production and considering that the Rai’s were putting their blood and sweat into this project, one would have thought that they would have paid a proper scriptwriter and not Mrs.Rai. The director Naresh Malhotra has tried to salvage the movie but it doesn’t matter because the end result is the same- a big mess. Arjun Rampal is still not a flawless

actor but the improvement is definitely there and if this was another movie, then he might have done a better job. As for Aishwarya, it looks like this is as far as she can go in the field of acting and she will always be sought after for her looks and star value rather than talent. Nadeem-Shravan''s music is average. So the big question - Is this movie worth the money? That would be a definite no and the chances are that this flick will be out of the theatres by next Friday!
