Much awaited movie FIZA seems to have disappointed the Bangalore audience,
especially fans of Hrithik Roshan. The movie which lays stress on human emotions,
relationships, futility of violence and the advantages of communal harmony loses the
essence in its efforts to appeal to the box-office. |

The story is on how a small happy family ends up in trouble due to communal riots, for no
fault of theirs. Fiza (Karishma Kapoor) is elder sister of Aman (Hrithik Roshan), who is
lost in communal riots. After he is lost, the happy family is shattered by the shock.

Nishatbi (Jaya Bachan, mother of the two children) and Fiza live in
perpetual fear. Unable to live in this mental condition for long, this bold and beautiful
Fiza, makes an attempt to find out the truth. Her attempts like exposing the issue through
media, contacting the politicians, police etc., prove futile.

Then she sets on her Mission Search. She comes to the border villages of
Rajasthan. Ultimately she succeeds in her mission and brings back her
brother. Anirudh (Bikram Saluja) boyfriend of Fiza, volunteers to help her. The
relation between a Hindu boy and a Muslim girl is kept symbolically.

This little brother who turns a terrorist in self defense, is convinced by Fiza to come
back and lead a normal civic life. Later on he realizes that he is a mis-fit in this
society. Having lived for such a long time in a different mental make up, turns violent
for very minor incidents and attracts the attention of the police. Finally, in a very
dramatic ending, he is killed by his own sister on his request. Thus the movie ends with a
        message to the religious fundamentalists.

Highly sentimental movie has many unplugged holes. Although it has some good numbers, they
are not so situational, especially the club number of Karishma which is only to show her
dancing abilities. 'Aaja mahia,' is well shot. It is needless to mention Hrithik Roshan's
dancing skills. Neha's, role (as Aman's girl friend) goes unnoticed. A dancing number by
Sushmita sen, is good. She looks gorgeous. Bikram Saluja (Fiza's boy friend) is not
appealing. He seems to be good only as a model.

It is strange at times to see a critic turned director Khalid Mohammad, coming out with a
movie with so many holes. On the whole, it is an average movie with a message.
