One more Telegu super hit film remake, KDNK
is a direct copy of Swayamvaram, which did very well down South. Produced by |
|
G.A. Seshagiri Rao and directed by Sanjay
Chhel, this film, which is about different ideologies of two people in love, deals
with their relationship.
The film starts off in New Zealand where Rahul (Tusshar) is studying in college.
There he meets Esha (Esha Deol) and soon the forward and fun loving chap falls in
love with this shy and simple girl. Even though their friendship soon turns to love, they
both have a completely different view about life. While he wants to be independent and
lead his life his own way, Esha has conservative valued deeply embedded within her. While
he hates marriage, she believes in the institution and wants to settle down into matrimony
with the man she loves. Since Rahul has seen his parents (Rajesh Khanna and Smita
Jaykar) go through a messy marriage, he |
|
doesnt want to tie the knot but
Eshas close family ties (Raj Babbar and Neena Kulkarni) make her want
to follow the same life. Soon both the families accept the relationship and tell them to
get married but Rahul refuses to marry Esha at any cost. His views |
about marriage completely clash from her, as
he wants to have an open friendship with her but she is totally against it. And this leads
to a clash of ideals between the lovers. What follows is a mish-mash where both the
confused souls dont know what exactly they are looking for from life.
The screenplay is the main reason why this film has completely missed the bus. The
complicated scenes between the couple make one wonder what the juvenile delinquents are up
to. They talk about marriage but behave like confused and immature brats. They are
thoroughly mixed up about what they want from life. Technically, the film is ok with so-so
cinematography (Madhu Ambat) and decent editing. But it is the films music
that saves this |
|
|
ship from sinking entirely. Himesh Reshammiya is at his
best with catchy songs like Nikamma, Taza Taza and Zindagi Ye Dillagi Hain, which are sure
to be remembered long after the film. Of the cast, Tusshar Kapoor is good both at acting
and dancing but it is |
|
Esha Deol who has improved by leaps and
bounds since her first two films. She looks terrific and is in control at all times. But
it is director SANJAY Cheel who has messed up big time with this movie. His flair for
comedy seems misplaced and so does his catch of emotions. He needs to improve before he
announces his next movie. KDNK has great music, decent performances and good
production values but the film lacks a solid script, which is essential. Its very
complicated, almost stupid at times. After watching this trash, the audience is sure to
ask Chhel, Kyaa Tum Ne Kiya?
