"Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche" is a love
story with a slightly different note. This film happens to be Esha Deol's
        debut film.

The story revolves around Esha (Esha Deol) and her mother-in-law Mansi  Devi (Jaya
        Bachchan) who are |

  |
shown to share a strong bond of love with
each other. In fact, such is the love and understanding between them that it is only after
a while that the audience get to know that Mansi Devi is not the mother but the
            mother-in-law of Esha.

Esha studies in an institute along with Aman (Aftab Shivdasani). Aman is head over heels
in love with Esha who on the contrary does not show any |

         |

interest in him. Aman is helped in his
efforts by his father Anupam Kher but in vain. He finally lands up at Esha's place and
proposes to marry her in front of her mother-in-law. Esha after much pressure from her
mother-in-law finally agrees to marry Aman and this is when her past comes as a barrier.
        Her past is nothing |

but the fact that she was married to
Dushyant (Sanjay Kapoor) who is a sex pervert and tries to use his wife Esha to achieve
his goals. In one such incident, Esha tries to escape and in this chaos, the house in
which they all were living is set on fire where her husband is thought to have been dead.

Now, that she is getting engaged to Aman and is all set to start life fresh, Dushyant
reappears trying to blackmail her. Who else but her mother-in-law |

comes to her rescue by poisioning her son thereby killing him and
clearing the hurdle off Esha's way.
That is what "Koi mere dil se pooche" is all about.

The film is nothing great and lacks proper direction. It is a remake of the Telegu hit
"Pelli". The first half of the film is light whereas the second half is more
dramatic and entertaining. The climax though effective is |

  |
very tame as a result of which the
overwhelming impact this film would otherwise have had is lost.

Performance wise, Sanjay kapoor is best. He seems better as a villain than as a hero and
has slogged hard for this role of his. Esha is excellent as a dancer but due to lack of
proper direction, her talent seems to be half used. Aftab acts naturally but has nothing
much to perform since the film is based on Esha primarily. Jaya Bachchan does a great job
as a mother but her dialogue delivery |

         |

        is extremely
slow at times which gets real annoying. Anupam Kher is OK. Jaspal Bhatti and Rajpal Yadav
are Ok with their comedy but not as hilarioust after all.

Music by Rajesh Roshan is average and there is not a single hit number. "Deewana tera
        haaye", "Awara |

main badal hoon", "Tera bhala kare
bhagwan" and "Hamesha hamesha" are a few good numbers. The background song
is effective. Too many songs in this film also deviates the attention of the audience from
the seriousness of this film. The picturisations of the songs could have been livelier.
Cinematography and other technical aspects of this film are average.

Overall, "Koi mere dil se pooche" is an average movie and has nothing much to
offer. A sincere advice for Esha is that she better be careful selecting her next role. |
