        As the
name suggests it is all about romance. The Yash-Raj banner has again come out with a love
story which is as unrealistic as its earlier movies. Aditya Chopras debut Dilwale
Dulhaniya Le Jayenge has much more to its credit than this.    |

            The
story is about confrontation between two interesting personalities, one is for change and
the other one against all kinds of change. Narayan Shankar(Amitabh Bachchan) is the
principle of the Gurukul, the premier institution which is standing on the pillars of
tradition and discipline. It is an institution which is opaque to life outside it. Raj

Rukh-Khan), erstwhile lover of Megha (Aishwarya Rai) an unfortunate
daughter of a very rigid father, Narayan Shankar. She finds her life incomplete without
her love and also with out her father. Being unable to compromise she commits suicide. Raj
Aryan, is victim of such rigidities of the institution. He takes it as a challenge and
confronts Narayan Shankar in his own institution. |

            The movie
starts with three young boys entering the Gurukul and getting adjusted with the rules and
regulations there. They get attracted by the young beauties, studying in womens
college. As it is much against the tradition established by the Gurukul, they start
suppressing their feelings and emotions. Raj Aryan, enters the Gurukul as a music teacher
and helps all the three boys to reach out and get what |

they want. Narayan Shankar openly objects to this and
demands his resignation. Raj Aryan, refuses to resign, till the end of the term and he
expresses his commitment to change the institution by the end of the contract. Finally Raj
Aryan succeeds in his effort to open the doors and all the windows of the institution and
bring in fresh air from all sides. The movie spreads the |

            message
of love in a very unrealistic way. It is nothing but 4 hours of bore especially for those
audience who have slight respect for their intellect. There are many unrealistic scenes.
From the beginning in the Gurukul, only Musicteacher and the principle are shown. Aiswarya
Rai is very funnily depicted as Devta of Love and Raj Aryan, a messiah of
love. These are just to mention a few. |

Yash Raj banner has maintained its tradition of making
movies on the long established value of love in a fairy-tale manner.  The movie shot
in exotic locations of UK and Switzerland has picture perfect scenes.  Music scored
by Jatin-Lalit is also ordinary. Except the title number none of the other songs are
hummable. The only appreciable part of the movie, is its script and the cast. Script is
well-written. Amitabh has got a role which fits his age and |

            stature.
Shah-Rukh is at his best. Enough justice is not done to Aishwarya and her bewitching
beauty. The others in the cast have performed well. If only the director had any respect
for the patience of the audience and cut the length of the movie, we could still tolerate
it. Those interested in testing their levels of tolerance can still go for this. |
