        Karnik. |

Vikramaditya Singh (Lucky Ali) is a brilliant singer and his profession is that of a
teacher who teaches in a music academy. On one instance, he hears Tina Marie (Gauri
Karnik) singing in a church and is impressed by her singing abilities. He takes permission
from her sister (Divya Dutta) and starts training Tina. Tina learns well and soon starts
composing her own music. This makes Divya (Simone Singh) who helps Vikramaditya run the
academy jealous. Vikramaditya also starts getting jealous of Tina and overpowers her. He
even goes to the extent of stealing one of her tunes and passes it off as his own
composition in a recording. This shatters Tina and she leaves Vikramaditya and the school.

Amidst popularity and recognition, Vikramaditya realises that he has been very selfish and
mean in the process. He goes back to get Tina and finds her totally changed. She has quit
            singing and has |

decided to become a nun. He begs of her to
come back and perform in a show with him. She agrees to sing after much hesitation. |

Just before the show, Vikramaditya leaves
the scene and Tina has no choice but to sing alone. She does so and becomes a star.....

Sur seems more like the Amitabh- Jaya's Abhimaan of
yesteryears. The story is effective but the movie doesn't impress much. This is because of
the screenplay that isn't executed well. The emotions and the drama dont come as strongly
as expected, hence fail to leave an impact. Music by M.M. Kreem is brilliant. The song
"Aa bhi jaa" is the best among the lot, the others being great as well.
Cinematography by Nirmal Jani is wonderful.

Tanuja seems to be going through a bad time. She has been continuously |

        having flop movies lately. Though
she has extracted the best from the stars, her script should have been better. The movie
is extremely slow paced and that is a big drawback.

Performance-wise, Lucky Ali is the best. He is spontaneous and has given a very natural
performance. His confidence shows on the screen and he can do well as an actor besides
singing. Gauri looks ordinary and needs to brush up her acting skills. Simone Singh is
excellent and Divya Dutta is ordinary.

Overall, the movie will appeal only to few serious movie lovers.
