Review: Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar

The story is about 20 year old Sarena (Amisha Patel) and her journey in search of
her mother (Nafisa Ali). Saren happens to be the motherless daughter of an industrialist,
Vivek Dewan (Gulshan Grover) and shares a wonderful relation with her father. She is a pop
singer and has a promising career ahead of her. Well, there is nothing more she can expect
out of life that has given her so much more than she wanted. |

This is when Jai (Jimmy Shergill) enters her life and casts
shadows of sorrow there.
Jai is a journalist and dreams of making it big one day. He searches for an
ultra-sensational story that will help him achieve his goal and in the process of doing so
stumbles upon the fact that Sarena is not the real daughter of Dewan. Jai goes ahead and
publishes this story thereby |

earning the wrath of Dewan who not only sues him but also
tries to conceal further information about this secret which he had managed to hide from
his daughter for the last 20 years.
Sarena, however has her mind set on finding out the truth and on discovering that the
story is not outright false, she gets bewildered and decides to go in search of her
mother. She realises that she needs Jai's help in achieving her goal. Together, they
discover many hidden facts and injustice meted out to Sarena's |
mother. Jai in the process learns important values of life.
Once they know the truth, they set out to undo the wrong done to her mother.
"Yeh Zindagi ka safar" happens to be director Tanuja Chandra's third film after
"Dushman" and "Sangharsh", all of which are women-oriented movies. For
Amisha too, this happens to be her third film after "Kaho Naa Pyar Hai" and
"Gadar-Ek Prem Katha", both of which are superhits. |

The film is written by Mahesh Bhatt and the producer is none other than Mukesh
Bhatt. The drawbacks in the film are manifold and many of the sequences in the film go
unaccounted for which means the script should have been written with more care. The songs,
all slow-paced being incorporated without valid situations in the film is also another
major drawback. Director Tanuja Chandra though has chosen a right story, her
interpretation has been highly over dramatised. Dialogues, are good though.
As for the performances, Amisha Patel excels but does overact at times. The role being
very sensitive, needed much more care. Jimmy Shergill does not have much to perform.
Gulshan Grover is ok. Rajpal Yadav and Ehsaan Khan are loud.
Overall, the film has nothing new to offer but will certainly be liked by many.
