Recipe > Bread Pakora

Ingredients
Chili Powder (Red Chili Powder) 1/4 teaspoon
Gram flour 1 cup
Lemon juice 1 teaspoon
Water 3,1/2 tablespoons
Yogurt 1,1/2 teaspoon
Salt 1 pinch
Mint leaves 1 cup
Egg white 1 white
Green Chilis 1 medium
Garlic 2 cloves
Oil for deep frying
Bread Slices(Regular, White) 4

Bread Pakora

Method

  1. Cut each bread slice along the diagonal to form two triangular pieces. Keep aside.
  2. Grind garlic, green chili, mint leaves, salt and lemon juice into a paste (do not add water).
  3. Smear this paste on both sides of the bread pieces.
  4. Mix gram flour(besan), red chili powder, yoghurt, egg white, water and salt thoroughly into a batter (be careful -- the batter must not be too sloppy! Its consistency should be such that it can stick to the bread slices).
  5. Heat oil in a wide skillet.
  6. Test if oil is hot by dropping a pinch of the batter in the oil.
  7. If batter sinks, then the oil is not yet hot enough.
  8. If it bobs on the surface and bubbles form around it, then the oil is ready.
  9. Take each bread piece, dip in the batter so that it is coated thoroughly on both sides and drop in oil.
  10. Deep fry until golden brown on both sides.
