Care of new born baby.... |
Your baby is finally here! The joys and challenges of motherhood
are about to begin. It is important to remember to take care of yourself as well as your
new baby. A new baby needs a lot of care, but you will be skilled at taking care of your
child in no time. You have experienced nine months of changes in your body. Those changes
will continue in the next couple of months as you decide whether or not to breastfeed and
as your body starts to recover from having the baby.

It is important to follow your doctor's
advice and take care of yourself during this time. Make sure to rest when you can and not
try to do too much.
Although initially a young inexperienced mother may be nervous and worried about newborn
management, she can always get all the help and assistance from either the doctor or
caretaker. But soon she should be confident enough to manage independently.
Basic things to be kept in mind for the mothers : |
- Preferably cotton cloths should be
used to avoid unwanted skin allergies.
- The baby must be kept warm and dry
to prevent heat loss.
- KAJAL should not be put to baby's
eyes. It can cause infection.
- Oil should not be put in ears or
nose. It can cause serious damage and infection.
- No home remedies should be given
even for minor problems. Consult your doctor as soon as you feel something is wrong.
- Avoid harsh body massage . Any oil
applied gently before bath is good enough.
- Strong odoured soaps and cosmetics
should be avoided rather mild soaps should be used. These may lead to skin allergies and
rashes.
- Look after your own health. Eat a
well balanced diet. Which is more important if you are breast feeding.
- Remember, Breast milk alone should
be given till the baby is at least 4 months. Even in very hot climate there is no need to
give extra water. Breastfeeding is the Bestfeeding.
