Labor & Delivery.... |
Labor is the process
by which contractions of a pregnant uterus cause birth. Every labor is different. How long
it lasts and how it progresses differ from woman to woman and from birth to birth
How to Tell when Labor Is Approaching?
When labor is approaching your body undergoes certain changes and provides you with
signals to let you know if this is the moment you've been waiting for over these past
months. |
|
Due Date :
Due date given by the doctor is only the estimated date, but not the exacte date for the
labour. The beginning of labor is unpredictable and can happen a little early or late. This
is no cause for anxiety or alarm. It may begin as much as 2 weeks before or after your due
date and still be considered normal.
Going to the Hospital:
There are a few things to think about before it is time to make the decision to go to the
hospital. The distance from the place you live and the hospital you have to go.
Acupressure Treatment For Painless Delivery :
When the labour pain starts, the following treatment will ensure painless delivery within
20/30 minutes: |
Roll the pulley
vigorously on the back of the two arms (from nails to elbow) for 15 / 20 minutes. The
pulley is in the form of a grooved wooden roller on plastic rollers. If such a pulley is
not available, rolling can be done with grooved wooden rollers. Otherwise, the back of the
two palms and the soles and be rubbed continuously from nails to wrists with two metal
combs. Continue the rubbing for 5 / 8 minutes, There is no cause for worry even if the
back of palms and soles become blood-red. If necessary, Vaseline may be applied on the
affected parts after the delivery.
|
|
Afterwards ask
the expectant mother to hold these combs between the tips of her fingers and the upper
part of the palms joining the fingers as shown in the figure and ask her to give a steady
pressure on the comb with her fingers and thumbs for two minutes and leave it for 2
minutes and continue this. If other things are normal, the child will be born within 20 to
30 minutes and afterwards the mother will not feel exhausted.
|
|
In the meantime,
ask the mother to take the tongue out as far as possible and give continuous pressure on
the back of the tongue with the handle of the spoon, for 1 minute. Repeat the same with
the interval of 3 minutes. This would result in instant painless childbirth.
