Geetha Pai..... |

Though she is a resident of New Mexico, Geetha is originally from
India. Dissatified with her career as a restaurateur and spicy product manufacturer, she
decided to give up on the same and on a visit to the orphanage of Mother Teresa in
Calcutta, she came up with an idea of starting a project that would help these unfortunate
lot.
She made up her mind to use natural resources like wood, silk, jute, banana and |
palm leaf fiber for making baskets, bags and
other utility products, sell them abroad and use the money for the orphans at Mother
Teresa. The women here help her make chile-emblazoned baskets and bags which she sells
from her office in Las Cruces. These designs are made keeping in mind the liking of the
people of Southwest.
Geetha's company "Baskets and Bags" sells chile-emblazoned jute bags, plus
recipe boxes, napkin rings, coasters, trivets, pencil holders, and bowls with various
chile designs on them to shops and retailers. Geetha is happy with this noble job of hers
that not only gives jobs to women but also feeds hundreds mouths in Mother Teresa's
orphanage.
Great job, Geetha!!
