Aaghaaz |
With Aaghaaz Sunil Shetty is back in action. Aghaaz is an
actioneer which especially suits Sunil Shetty. After his attempts to prove his ability in
emotional roles, he has gone back to his previous roles.

Govinda (Sunil Shetty) comes to Bombay,
from Punjab, along with his sister for her higher education and stays with his father's
friend Mr. Rajan (Anupam Kher), who is the owner of a catering company in Azad
nagar. This is an area which is under the control of the local goons Jhonny and Danny.
As in all the usual bollywood stories, they are those who threaten the
public and collect the hafta. Govinda comes as a savior for the public there, and
fights against the atrocities. This messiah |

starts stretching out his helping hand for one and all, in
solving all their problems including things like purchasing land etc. He even helps them
to build a market. With out his knowledge, unfortunately he will be a victim of the plot
laid by the same old villains. As a result many of them lose their money and retaliate,
thinking that it is a game played by Govinda. They harass his sister during his absence in
the city. Eventually they are convinced of his goodness by her.

Love story is blended in this action
loaded film in a flash back technique. In this Sushmita (who is on police training) is the
damsel behind who Govinda sings and dances. But while she is on training, Govinda is
forced to marry Suman Ranganathan who becomes pregnant before marriage.
Unfortunately she is also killed by her angry brother. After all this he
comes to Bombay to start a new life. Here too his life is in a mess. The two local goons
join hands with the two others and rape Govinda's sister in public and in front of him. |

Now he gives his sermon about the duties and rights of the people and whips up
their sentiments to fight against the Goondagardhi. Emotionally frenzied public now
successfully fight against the evil forces.
Sunil Shetty is in good form and at his best as he is very comfortable in such action
roles. He is o.k even in emotional scenes. Sushmita is a dressed damsel. Her talent has
not been utilized completely. Rest of the cast, that is Namrata Shirodkar, Shradda Nigam
(Sunil Shetty's sister), Gulshan Grover are ok. Anupam Kher and Jhony lever have
done their job well and give comical releif to the audience who are tired of the noise.
Some scenes and dialogues are very crude.
Anu Malik's music fails to please the music fans. It is below average. Only 'Mann, tera
mera mann' is o.k. Those who are interested in action loaded films can go for this. It is
not advisable for those who are allergic to violence and noise.
