Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai |
Jis desh mein ganga rehta hai------- yes, the answer is obvious. It is not only the River,
but also the movie and the audience for such movies also exist only in India. The Hindi
version of the Marathi hit, Ektajeev Sadashiv, is below average movie.

Ganga (Govinda) a happy- go- lucky boy, is
an undeclared leader of a gang in the village which is all the time doing nothing but
enjoying. Village Belly Sawari (Sonali-Bendre) is member of that gang. Gangas river
of love starts flowing towards her. Unfortunately when her father comes to Gangas
house and proposes formally, Gangas father shockingly reveals the story which took place, 27
years ago. It is a flash back which reveals, the rich background of the hero. As usual he
is son of a very rich business man Shakti Kapoor, the whom every one presumes as Ganga's
father is only the care taker/ |

Guardian of Ganga. Ganga's father leaves him in the
village as Ganga will be suffering from a mysterious disease which not even the world top
scientist would understand. The only cure for the disease is he will have to live amidst
the goats. The Guardian father politely apologizes and convinces others of his
helplessness.
Ganga now comes back to his father who is living in an highly sophisticated atmosphere.
Ganga suffers from a culture shock as he is grown up like a 10th century village boy(not
20th). He now becomes victim of the jealousy, greediness etc., of the other family members
for whom he is no more than a joker. Tina (Rinki Khanna) comes for his rescue and converts
him to a polished gentle man. Eventually Tina falls for his goodness, innocence etc., as
this is a relation which will match their social status, they even arrange for the
engagement. Sawari withdraws as a typical tyageswari. For their bad luck, the things
follow are predictable. If Sawari is tyageshwari, Ganga is worthy of the title
Tyaraja the Great. He openly takes |

the
responsibility of a rape/murder case of his brother. It ends with a happy note where his
brother openly declares the innocence of his brother.
The Comedy King Govinda, is at his best. If he fails to tickle the audience,
it is the fault of the weak script. Sonali Bendre is very beautiful and the roll suits
her. Rinki Khanna needs lot of homework. Music is also ordinary. Choreography is good.
Those who don't pay attention to the logics and want to kill time can go for this one |
