Ehsaas revolves around the relationship of a father with his
11 year old son.
Ravi Naik (Sunil Shetty) is a Government employee who lives with his 11 year old son Rohan
(Master Mayank) in Goa. Rohan is an excellent athlete and Ravi wants Rohan to win the 400
meters race in the |
|
All India Inter Schools Meet. To realise his dreams, he
becomes a merciless taskmaster and drives Rohan away from his heart.
Rohan tries his best to live up to his father's expectations but fails each time, and each
time he fails, Ravi taunts and scorns him. Tired of all this, Rohan finds solace in a
neighbouring widow Antara (Neha), who becomes Rohan's best friend and she too believes
that Ravi is too harsh with Rohan and is nothing less than a tyrant. But deep down, she is
in love with Ravi. Maya (Kiron Kher) happens to |
|
be her mother in law.
Few days before the meet, Rohan goes for an outing with the other children and
unfortunately, meets with an accident on the way back thereby severely hurting his leg.
Well, that makes his chances to participate |
in the Meet very bleak and crashes Ravi's dreams down.
Meanwhile, Antara's father feels that she should remarry. He chooses a groom for her. On
the other hand, an outing with Antara on New Year's Eve convinces Ravi of his love for her
but he fails to confess it to Antara when she comes to tell him about her father's
remarriage plans for her.
Rohan feels that his father is letting go of Antara because of his inability to |
|
|
participate in the race and as all can guess it, he participates in the race with
all those stitches and guess what , he comes to a close second, nevertheless winning the
race of life!!!
Ehsaas is yet another attempt by Mahesh Manjrekar to tackle a relationship, this time that
of a father and a |
|
son. The film is a bit different from the other similar
films in the sense that in this film, the father tries to realise his dreams through his
son. The script is well written and focussed. Cinematography by Vijay Arora is first rate.
Dialogues are well penned and editing is sharp. But the film does lack a hit score. The
songs are slow paced and situational. "Yeh Din Bachchon ke" is the best and
"Tumse Milkar Hua hain" gives one a calm feeling. As far as the performances are
concerned, it is Sunil Shetty who steals the show. He performs as a matured actor and
clearly proves that he fits in well into |
|
any role after "Yeh tera ghar yeh mera
ghar". Neha looks gorgeous but has nothing much to perform. She needs to be more
careful choosing her films in order to sustain well in the industry. Master Mayank has
given a brilliant performance. He is very natural and acts with ease. Kiron Kher and
Sanjay Narvekar are just about OK.
Overall, the film is worth a watch with your kids. |
