Yeh tera ghar yeh mera ghar is the story of a
landlord and a tenant. The landlord is Dayashankar Pande (Sunil Shetty) and the tenant,
Saraswati Joshi (Mahima Chaudhry). Dayashankar has lot of debts on his head |
|
|
and in order to clear his debts and save his ancestral home and land which
otherwise would get auctioned, he plans to sell his father's home in Mumbai. After
reaching Mumbai and finding out that his |
|
tenants are a middle-class Brahmin family, headed by
Sarawati Joshi, he realises that getting his own house vacated by these people is not as
easy as he had thought. Saraswati clearly refuses to vacate since the house they are
living in holds memories of her dead father. Dayashankar in his effort to get his house
vacated, resorts to various methods, taking help from Babban golawala, and the inspector
O.P. Yadav (Paresh Rawal), both of who are his childhood friends and hail from the same
village as Dayashankar. |
|
The inspector promises to help him but after seeing the beautiful Saraswati sobbing, his
heart melts and he falls for her promising her that they would never have to leave the
house. Now, that he is caught between |
the two, he asks Dayashankar to file a case and promises
Daya that he would take his side in the court. Dayashankar then borrows money for the case
and in the process occupies one of the rooms of his own house. Then begins the real
day-to-day fight between the landlord and the tenant. Finally, Dayashankar realises that
Saraswati needs the house much more than he does and so, he returns back to village
leaving the house for her. Saraswati too, after learning Daya's problems decides to
vacate the house and shift to village. Dayashankar then comes in search of her and offers
a proposal of the two getting married and |

all the family members of the two sides staying
together.Saraswati, has no reason to say no to this wonderful proposal........
Yeh tera ghar, yeh mera ghar is yet another light entertainer by Priyadarshan, Sunil
Shetty and Paresh Rawal team after the huge success of "Hera Pheri". But this
film fails to entertain the audience as much
as Hera Pheri. The audience no more have the patience to watch films like this one, after
seeing the ones shot in exotic locales like Switzerland, Australia and Mauritius.

The performance by Sunil Shetty trying to fit into a comic
role is appreciated. Mahima plays a smart Maharashtrian girl and looks very good in the
traditional sarees. She too has done justice to the role. Paresh Rawal is wasted but has
done a decent job with the sudden shift in his career from the villainous side to the
comical one. Other are OK.
The storyline is interesting and dialogues witty. Cinematography is good. |

Director Priyadarsan has not lived
up to the audience expectation this time. He should have concentrated more on the content
of the film. Music by Anand Milind is good if not excellent. The title number
"Saraswati, yeh tera ghar, he mera ghar" is new and innovative. "Hasaate
ho, rulaate ho" is the second best. Naghma makes her re-appearance in Hindi movies
after a long gap with yet another good number.
Overall, the film can be said to be intelligently scripted and will surely appeal to
many... |
