Kasoor.... |
|
Movie: Kasoor
Cast: Aftab Shivdasani, Lisa Ray, Ashutosh Rana, Apurva Agnihotri.
Direction: Vikram Bhatt
Music: Nadeem-Shravan.
|
Unfortunately Kasoor a murder mystery by the
director of Ghulam is not on par with his previous movie Ghulam. It lacks the
meticulousness and the grip that is most important for a thriller. Although the movie
begins with a good note takes a bad shape and also ends in a bad shape. A suppose to be
thriller, fails in its attempt. |
|
It is an indianised version of Hollywood movie Jagged
Edge. Shekar Saxena (Aftab Shivdasani), an editor of a daily is a passionate lover
who ends up killing his own wife.
|
Inspector Lokande (Ashutosh Rana) is all out to prove him
guilty. He employs a lawyer Simran Bhrvava (Lisa Ray) to prove his innocence. Eventually
he falls in love with the lawyer itself. It is this Man - Woman Chemistry that gives a
twist to the story. Finally when Simran comes to know of the reality what happens makes
the climax interesting. |

|
Gorgeous Lisa does not look like a Bollywood heroine. She has to do lot of
homework if she has any plans of continuing in the field. Aftab is good and convincing. He
looks better than what he is in his debut Mast. Ashutosh Rana, an actor with
merit is wasted in that role. |

The film is technically a good one. Songs are shot in the
exotic locations of Europe. Songs interspersed in the serious plot, at times even irritate
the audience. Music is scored by Nadeem-Shravan. It has two pleasing numbers, kitni
bechain hote and Zindagi ban gaye ho tum. Gut for these music is average. |
|
|
If we can use the title itself to comment, What is the Kasoor (mistake) of the
audience, as they are made to sit through the movie just because they have paid for it,
although there is very less that interests them. It is a good lesson for Vikram Bhatt not
to produce movies in a hurry. It is really a disappointing one especially after a
meticulously done movie like Ghulam.
