It was in that Mythical battle field of Kurukshetra,
victory of Good over Evil was established along with the holy
sermon given by Lord Krishna. However, this Kurukshetra is Kaliyugs
Bollywood battle field. The tools to establish the supposed to be ultimate
truth (victory of good over evil) here are
the cops |
and the corrupt politicians. It is hard to believe
that, it is by a director who directed such a sensible movie like Astitva.
The story has nothing new to talk about.. It is the same old plot, (honest
officer fighting |
|
against the corrupt political system) narrated in an
uninteresting manner. Prithviraj Singh (Sanjay Dutt) is a honest police officer who
despite all the oddities decides to fight for justice and ultimately wins over the evil
forces in a typical filmy style.
Prithvirajs honesty puts not only him but all around him who are
unlike him under trouble. The music he has to face for this is transfer(he is transferred
14 times in 11 years), suspension, threatening calls etc.,. but still he is determined |
|
and goes ahead to imprison the son of the Chief Minister (Om Puri)
who is involved in a rape case. The result is obvious, he is suspended for false
allegation (custodial death). Only his wife and two of his friends stand by him in his
struggle. His friend Iqbal helps in sheltering Prithvirajs family during his
struggle. Finally he fights for the cause |
and establishes the mythical truth.
For the audience with little common sense, the mistakes of the movie are
obvious. Mahesh Manjrekar, unfortunately has not paid enough attention to script, music,
screen play etc. only appreciable fact of the movie is Sanjay |
Dutts brilliant performance. It is not a surprise for us, after
watching him in Mission Kashmir which proves his maturity and brilliance in acting. Mahima
Chaudhary looks good, but lacks the necessary depth.Another appreciable |
|
actor is Om Puri. Music and
cinematography are also average. It is definitely for those who have nothing else to do
and are scratching their head to pass time. Others can happily stay away from this. |
