Pukar

"Pukar" is certainly one of the most lavishly mounted films released in these times. The Producer and Director have left no stone unturned to make the canvas bigger. There was a tremendous publicity for the film before its release and over 300 prints of the film has been released all over the world. The technical points associated with the film is superb and it is a slick presentation. But then the films narration is too predictable, and certainly one feels that Santhosh’s brilliance seen in "Ghayal" or "Damini" is missing here. But certainly it is a worth watch film and caters to all classes of people. The film runs in two tracks detailing the dynamism and bravery of an army major and his love affair.

It is also the story of a wounded tigress Madhuri who fails in her love attempt and turns hostile to become a tool for the terrorists. But later she realises her mistake and then helps the dynamic major with whom she had a secret love to come clean and emerge victorious in his battle with terrorists. Both the Major and the disappointed lover join hands to avert a major disaster planned by the terrorists. The film moves in a fast pace in the first half, but falls into predictable lines in the second.

The main technical features of the film like photography and editing are top class. Photography is breathtaking and editing is slick and competent. It is once again Music Director A.R.Rehman who comes out best as a Music composer and also in his work relating to background Music score. The songs "Kay Sera Sera", "Sunta Haai Meraa Khuda"

and "Hey Eeshwar" are good and the picturisation of the songs add up to the value of the songs.

For any film buff "PUKAR" is a must see film Even for an occassional moviegoer, it is a worth watch.
