Rafting in North Karnataka
Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 09/17/2013 - 12:37For those who love the rush of adrenaline in water, the choices are humungous. There's something about rushing water that kicks up the excitement to high gear. Through some pretty good natural engineering, Karnataka has some of the best locales for water sports in South India. The adrenaline-pumping variety of water sports is concentrated on two rivers - Kali and Cauvery, with Sita being a new entrant. However, river Kali is the focus of the more serious enthusiasts, since activities such as river rafting are possible for almost nine months of the year. Besides, it offers higher grades (read more dangerous and treacherous) of river rafting. Activities ore shut down for a couple of months during the monsoons- when the dams get heavy and swells the river. On the other hand, both Cauvery (in Bheemeshwari and in Coorg) and Sita offer lower grades (including for beginners) and water-based activities are possible for less than six months during and after the monsoons.
