Look out for the pre-paid auto stand. Ask the traffic police for directions. Some of them are at Forum (Hosur Road), MG Road, Kamaraj Road, Cantonment Railway Station and the Bangalore City Railway Station.

After 10pm, autos charge 50% over the metre. After 11pm, its 100%. They may charge extra to go to remote areas. No point in haggling over it if your travel is more important.

If you are travelling late at night, its best to book a city taxi that comes to your doorstep at the specified time.
