SANKRANTHI &
UTTARAYANA PERIOD
Every year January
14th is considered the start of UTTARAYANA PUNYAKALA and is said to be very
auspicious. It is on this day a festival SANKRANTHI is also celebrated.
The meaning of SANKRANTHI is "good progress".
We can study the reference of SANKRANTHI and UTTARAYANA in our epic
MAHABHARATHA. It was the end of DWAPARA YUGA and commencement of KALI YUGA
(The present Yuga). Maharishi Vedavyasa wrote the Mahabharatha.
(1)
Vedavyasa is a great sage. Then come the other 15 great sages-namely
(2) VASHISTA (3) ATRI (4) PARASARA (5) KASHYAPA (6)
NARADA (7) GARGA (8) MAREECHI (9) ANURANGEERA (10)
LOMASHA (11) BRIGHU (12) POULASTYA (13) CHYAVANA (14)
YAVANA (15) VISWAMITRA.
Vedavyasa
wrote the Mahabharatha in 18 PARVAS (volumes). The famous war Kurukshetra
takes place during the period of Mahabharatha. Bhisma Pitamaha was the
greatest personality of the entire Mahabharatha story. Bhisma was an
Ichhamarani (one who can die at the time he wishes).
Situations and circumstances during
the Mahabharatha war made Arjuna shoot fatal arrows at Bhisma. Since it was
Dakshinayana period, Bhisma desired to die at the commencement of
Uttarayana. Bhisma was laid on the bed of arrow tips as his body should
not touch the ground.
Bhisma, lying on the
arrow bed narrated to Dharmaraya (Yudhistra), that it was the end of
Dwaparayuga. And from the day, when Sun enters Makara Rashi, it would be the
beginning of Uttarayana and Sankranthi and Kaliyuga. He also said that Dharma will slowly decline in Kaliyuga. On this day of Sankranthi the doors of Heaven, whether you call it Vaikunta, Brahmaloka or Kailasa, are kept open. All divyaatmas (sacred souls) will go to heaven. Having said this Bhisma ended his life at Uttarayana Punyakala blessing all.
This year 14th January 2000 Sun has entered Makara Rashi at night 11.02
p.m.
A GREAT DISASTER AHEAD
In our vedic shastras there is mention of the Churning of the Oceans(Sagar Manthana). The Devas and Rakshasas churned
the oceans. As a result of the churning, at first poison came out and then Amrutha (a divine drink of the Gods which grants immortality). Lord Shiva swallowed the poison and saved the world from disaster. We also study about the Kalingamardhana by Lord Krishna and Gokula Samrakshana by Lord Giridhari Krishna.
Now once again there is one such disaster on 4th May 2000, during the Vasanthamasa-Uttarayana, Vaishaaka-Krishna Paksha, Amavasya (Full Moon Day), Bharani-Star. This time there will be no churning of the oceans, but malefic effects of our planetary systems as predicted by the astrologers. Many calamities may take place and millions of people may die.
On 4th May 2000 the planets Ravi (Sun), Bhudha (Mercury), Guru (Jupiter), Shukra (Venus), Shani (Saturn), Moon (Chandra), will associate
together in one house Mesharashi (Aries), planet Rahu in Simha Rashi (Leo),
Kethu in Makara (Capricorn). These positions cause a Mahakala Sarpa Yoga (A
Great Disaster). The planetary positions are shown here in the chart. This
malefic effect of the planets will be felt internationally. There may be wars all over the world. Started by one man declaring war on another nation. This may have adverse
effects on America, France, Britain, Russia and India. The powerful will survive
and the weaker will destroy themselves. An incarnation of a superhuman
(Mahapurusha) born in Madhya Desha will try to bring peace in the world. He will be
born in Dhanur Rashi (Sagittarius). The old will be destroyed and the new will be born. Await 4th May 2000 A.D.
