Yes! Indeed...Advantage Elder Care, a premier institution catering to palliative care needs (specialists' in geriatric healthcare management) situated in our neighborhood (CSI Colony, Kothanur) is a tranquil haven for those in their twilight (sunset) years!

A transition point between hospital and home for elderly patients, particularly terminally ill cases this facility has several inspiring stones of patients recovering and returning to their homes, while many remain in the center where they are made comfortable and provided hospice care...until their last breath.

Advantage Elder Care was established in the year 2001 with a passionate desire to provide quality care for the aged. From providing nurses for home hospice care to palliative care services…it has come a long way! Says, Shaji Philip, Founder "In this 21st century, given the fast paced busy lives we are living...taking care of the elderly is getting increasingly difficult. And with me and my team's sufficient experience In the Hospice industry is what prompted us to start AEC”.

Patients with conditions like Alzheimer's, Dementia, Parkinson's, bipolar disease, stroke, head injuries, spinal injuries, cancer patients requiring dialysis and postoperative cases are taken care by this institution. Care is taken to prevent the patients from developing further ailments, to keep them dean, well nourished, hydrated, and exercised, and to schedule various tests and visits from healthcare professionals as deemed appropriate. Also, they are taken care of in a comfortable, soothing environment, with services including personal care i.e. bathing, feeding, ambulation, administration of medicines, and procedures such as auctioning, catheterization, bedsore dressings, Ryle's tube feeding, PEG feeding, oxygen administration and monitoring.

Another feature of Advantage Elder Care is their Home Nursing service. The home nurses are first provided in-house and in-depth training by professionals at the AEC Home and then placed in patients' homes.

To continue their mission. Advantage Elder Care also opened a community college a year ago for deserving students from rural areas who did not have the means to carry their education forward. On completion of a one-year program of Diploma in Health Assistant's Course, these students a re then placed either in our elder care ho me or in hospitals to work as nursing assistants Thus Advantage Community College is providing both an education and work opportunity to these young girls. Also, the course and the food and accommodation are provided free of cost. This community college is recognized by Indian Center for Research and Development of Community Education, Chennai.

With 5 patients...AEC has grown to around 70 patients! In March 2007...a second home to provide better coordination, this center has come a long way!
