Bangalore's major vacations fall under two seasons: Summer, i.e., April
and May and Dasara, i.e., October. These are basically holiday times for schools and
colleges and therefore the right time for the employed parents too to go on long holidays.
During the vacations, many outsiders residing in Bangalore make their annual trips to
their home towns or to tourist centers anywhere in India. Some of the vacationers in the
government or private sector, get special leave travel benefits from their employers, and
there are travel agents in the city who offer exclusive facilities to them. Every holiday
season, the travel agents come up with a different menu of packaged tours of south India
and north India, and people prefer them for the mere convenience and comfort they offer.
And at the receiving end, Bangalore is turning out to be a choice destination for
vacationers from outside owing to several reasons. (More details under the head Tourism.)
As a consequence, Timeshare and accommodation exchange concepts are also steadily picking
up in the city, particularly encouraged by the increasing number of people working for
multinational and foreign companies who enjoy the privilege of sabbaticals. |
