JANAPRIYA SAHITYA PRAKASHANA
(Publication of popular books)
The project aims at the publication of rare works of literature not available at present,
and of contemporary literature. Under this project, the complete works of DVG, the
writings and speeches of Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar, the complete works of Kanakadasa, the
entire Dasa Sahitya, and of the manuscript of Kuvempus Ramayana Darshanam, and
the reprint of the Vachana series of books are being brought out. Besides, financial
assistance is being extended to huge projects like the publication of Epigraphia
Karnataka, of the Vishwakosha (Encyclopaedia), the English VidyanagarKannada Dictionary,
the Kannada-Kannada Dictionary and Janapada Vishwakosha (the Encyclopaedia of Folklore).
SUBVENTION TO PUBLISHED WORKS
This is a scheme to extend subvention to works of a literary or cultural or critical
nature.
Creative works like poetry, the novel, drama are excluded from the purview of the
assistance; financial help is given for non-creative writing like critical works, cultural
analyses and biographies.
HONORARIUMS AND MONTHLY PENSIONS
Honorariums and monthly pensions are granted to elderly artists and men of letters who
have rendered valuable service in their chosen areas of work like literature, music,
dance, drama, folklore and social service, but are in need of assistance. In addition,
honorariums are accorded to the recipients of the Jnanapith Award and awards of the
Central Academies.
MEDICAL AID TO MEN OF LETTERS AND ARTISTS
Writers and artists who have devoted their lives to literature, music, dance, drama, the
fine arts, folklore, yakshagana and allied forms and have received awards from either the
academies or the state government and are afflicted with serious ill-health, are
reimbursed in accordance with the rules.
ASSISTANCE TO KANNADA ORGANIZATIONS OUTSIDE THE STATE
A number of organizations outside the state are serving the cause of Kannada language,
literature and culture. Financial assistance is granted to the organizations for the
construction of buildings, purchase of equipment, development of Kannada schools and for
activities which promote Kannada and Kannada-culture.
PRODUCTION OF DOCUMENTARY FILMS
The scheme envisages the production of documentary films on eminent personalities who have
made outstanding contributions to Karnataka, the Kannada language and Kannada literature.
SPECIAL COMPONENT PROGRAMME
Several schemes have been formulated under this scheme to encourage writers and
artists of Scheduled Castes and Tribes:
Sponsoring Cultural Programmes
Creative genius and artistic forms are woven into the very fabric of the lives of
Scheduled Castes and Tribes. These artists have remained obscure for dearth of
opportunities to develop and display their talent. The Department sponsors programmes to
foster these art forms and to encourage these artists.
Programmes are sponsored at cultural festivals and special occasions organized by
associations of Scheduled Castes and Tribes.
These artists are offered assignments as part of programmes organized either under the
Samskrithi Sourabha scheme or schemes formulated by the artists themselves.
Training in Music
Coaching programmes are arranged in classical music, dance, instrumental music
and gamaka (the art of rendering verses musically) for students of scheduled castes and
tribes either in their hostels or in the hostels run by the Social Welfare Department.
Training in Folk Arts
Interested youth will be selected for training in folk dance, instrumental music and
music, on the same lines as the training in music.
Financial Assistance for purchase of Cultural Equipment
Financial assistance will be made available to registered organizations of Scheduled
Castes and Tribes to purchase musical instruments, stage equipment, costumes and
furniture, to enable them to foster their arts.
Construction of Samskrutika Mandiras (Cultural Centres)
Under this scheme registered institutions of Scheduled Castes and Tribes which own sites
received financial assistance for the construction of cultural centres so as to provide an
impetus to their activities.
Financial Help for Cultural Festivals and Seminars
Artists meets, cultural festivals, seminars and similar programmes
organized by registered bodies consisting of artists of Scheduled Castes and Tribes will
receive monetary help. |
