Healing through ART....

Mrs. Saro Agarwal, an eminent teacher of Arfts and crafts believes in the 'power of healing through ART' and has been practicing to 'telling' effect for many years through her 'SRIJAN' a centre for Art & Craft...

For many 'hobby' is a 'past-time' that provides relief from the daily grind! What if the same turns into a 'passion' and then 'heals' you? If no longer remains a 'hobby' but the very purpose of 'life itself! Here is a 'first-person' account...

"Creativity is the food for my soul since it helps me in using my mind constructively! Art is my desired passion and this strong emotion has helped me to create many an 'artist' over the years!

But ...above all, I realize that Art can HEAL! Not only to myself….but other too!

After graduating in Arts, I started my 'journey' which took a definitive shape and my dabbing in mural paintings, sculpture making started providing me that 'therapeutic effect'! Whenever I was feeling a bit 'down' my art-brush would do the drawing and i observed that my mind becoming 'calmer' and once I finished a drawing / painting...would fell 'invigorated'! If this can 'happen' to me...it could be made to happen for anybody! This is when: I decided to 'share' this with others.

I slowly put together a 'course' that would contain basics of art & craft, methods and materials, takeaways for the participant and tips to pursue Arts further. Having done this, slowly but surely...people who attended my classes began 'imbibing' what I had already experienced......that their bodies and minds becoming less and less agitated and 'refreshed' after each session.

Another, interesting facet that I discovered was that every time someone took up this 'basic' art course...they used to come back for more! Something like 'meditation'! They wanted to leard more and experience the 'therapeutic' nature of Art & Craft!

Slowly.....the 'graduation' to higher levels had commenced! I 'developed' an advanced course in Water Colors, Kerala Murals, mix-media oil painting, stain glass painting and calligraphy, bread craft, candle making, stuffed toys, terracotta jewelry (in the Crafts section) When my 'students' complete basic and advanced courses...they tend to take Art seriously and go on to become professional! I can proudly say that many of my proteges are master artists and craftsmen!

This is my 'belief' that each one has the 'creativity' inside them and when they enjoy and love what they are 'doing' it becomes ART!"

Mrs. Agarwal doesn't sell any of her works! But ..she has not imposed that 'belief' to her students'! She conducts classes at Banaswadi and Indiranagar.
