Sitting at the corner of the gorgeously refurbished Citrus, The Cake Shop at The Leela Palace welcomes you with an array of colours, textures and tastes to give a luxurious high-note to your cafe experience. Adding a personalised touch is a display of quirky designer cakes depicting your favourite fairy tale characters, with much attention given to detail.

An all-day cafe- apart from the pastries one gets to indulge in breads, cookies, savoury treats and a special candy station for the kids, (or for adults who want to relive their childhood) which lures you with rainbow colours of peppermint, and glass candy. The breads are an international selection, made with imported flour to get that authentic taste. From 'Seven Cerear to 'Dark rye and walnut bread1 for the health conscious to soft feta cheese and onion focaccia, you can even opt for high-fibre gluten-free. Fresh breads, made daily is the order of the day with a competitive rate, is reason enough to make this your regular bread station.

With the glass doors overlooking the lush gardens, you are treated to a European ambiance with a choice of delicious breakfast pastries, from the usual croissants to Pain au Chocolate to the more unusual sea-salt caramel muffins and Orange filled milk chocolate doughnuts. The savoury items include bell pepper quiche to salmon quiche, turnovers and cookies.

Coming to the stars of the show, sitting in their glass boxes like jewelled ornaments are the pastries. Each pastry is freshly made everyday, not only because they are sold out but because Chef Avijit Ghosh wishes it so. Glittering in hues of green, browns, golds and yellow with soft delicate frostings and pipings which add a touch of style, the visual treat does translate into a tasty one as well.

Behind the scenes, sourcing Valrohna - luxury French chocolates and fine Belgian Chocolate - Callebaut, you are given an original taste of the finest chocolate in the form of pastries and homemade chocolates. The Valrohna guanja fudge may look like a normal fudge cake, but bite into it and you will pampered to a sumpfuous joyride of creamy sponge delight, without an overpowering note. Follow the pretty colours, and you get a choice of Pistachio, Raspberry and Chocolate eclairs, the Viennese delight - Sacher and the Pistachio red fruit: a parfait filled with red fruit jam are among the many delights. Seasonal cakes with mango and strawberry also make a welcoming addition to the menu. Lastly, but certainly not the least, one cannot avoid the glass jars of pop coloured macaroons- ranging from flavours of orange, pistachio, blueberry and chocolate.
