Max 147 - Review |

If you are a true snooker or pool enthusiast looking for a good clean game
then Ricky's Max 147 is the place for you.
It was conceived when the owner Mr. Pradeep Ambaram started playing snooker with his son
in various snooker parlours of Bangalore. "I found most of the parlours, stinky ,
dirty and despicable places" says Mr. Ambaram, and it was then that the decision to
open a completely different kind of parlour was made. Consequentially it was named after
his son,Ricky.
And why Max 147?
"It is the highest possible break in snooker, something like six sixer's in an over,
a land mark "says Mr. Ambaram. One distinct advantage of playing at this parlour is
the fact that one has to rarely wait to get a table. There are twelve tables, enough for
everyone, with fine felts (making it the biggest parlour in Bangalore), which are uniquely
computer controlled.
The greatest selling point of this parlour is the atmosphere. No sleaze, no dirty
activities. The rules here are very strict: no smoking near the table, no alcohol, no
gambling and kids in school uniform are not allowed inside.
Hindustani Ghazals are played in the evenings after seven, a remedy of Mr. Ambaram for
frayed nerves.
If you think all this is a put off for people, especially teenagers, think again.
Teenagers flock this joint, and many of the regulars even visit them thrice a day. Famed
personalities including Geeth Sethi and Marc Robinson have played here. In fact Geeth
Sethi is reported to have said " In all the clubs I've been to in South India , this
one has the best atmosphere". Indeed the decency of this place has people visiting it
even from several other towns. The joint wears a tidy look with cozy sofas,
televisions, towels and powder bags hanging from the playing tables. The excellent playing
equipment coupled with the ambience and decency of this joint makes it a superb parlour.
So if you're looking for some good clean fun and you dont mind paying that wee
little extra then, this is the place for you.
