"Shabdavedi" - Bumper response at the Box office.
As the fiftieth day of the release of
"Shabdavedi"-the film which was anxiously looked forward to by many Kannada film
viewers is fast approaching, one inescapable conclusion emerges from the perusal of the
Daily Collection Reports of the theatres screening the film. For one thing,
"Shabdavedi" proves that Annavru has still retained the charisma and whatever be
the quality of the film the Kannada filmgoers are certain to see his film. For this year
"Shabdavedi" is already declared a big hit and the business circles in
Gandhinagar expect a further boost to its collections once the examination period is over
for the youngsters.
A discussion with the trade pundits in Gandhinagar and also looking at the collection
reports from various centres, it looks that Dr. Raj Kumar's return to the celluloid was
not only eagerly awaited, but the people were determined to see the film. The family
audience who have been a backbone for Dr. Raj Kumar's films are coming in large numbers
after the initial craze period is over, and despite the examination fever which normally
keeps the yongsters and women away from the theatres and the live coverage of Cricket
Matches, the collection figures of "Shabdavedi" has not dipped. All the district
centres in Karnataka have reported excellent collections for the film, and many records
have been broken. For instance, the Veeresha Theatre in Bangalore has recorded the best
collections in the first five weeks, and the distributors share from the theatre is the
highest in the history of the theatre In the same way, Shanthala Theatre from Mysore has
also recorded the best collections. The collections in the Northern Karnatak region has
surpassed all previous records in the first six weeks.
"Shabdavedi" has great potential to go ahead in terms of collections, as the
summer holidays will start from the end of March and the film would have already completed
fifty days of its screening. Gandhinagar trade pundits are certain that the film will
enhance its collections during summer, but are sceptical to predict the range of business
that the film is expected to make. "We cannot guess this figure, because Annavru is a
one man industry and his films will attract repeat audience. His films have the capacity
to survive and march ahead even in competition, as Kannada film viewers would see his
films anyway says a distributor.
The fact remains that the film is a Super Duper Hit.
