TAX CONCESSIONS FOR REMAKE TO BE WITHDRAWN SOON
Prof. B.K. Chandrashekar's proposal to withdraw the tax concessions on remakes in Kannada
films has perturbed the industry. Till now there was reduction of 100% entertainment tax,
which kept remakes on par with others. In a move to encourage creativity and give a boost
to new talent government of karnataka is contemplating on withdrawal of concessions by
August. However, many look at this as a step backwards in Kannada movieland which is
struggling to survive.
