The World Festival of Sacred Music will be held in Bangalore between April 9 - 16, 2000. The Festival will showcase musical traditions from over 14 countries including Indian classical and folk traditions.

The special attractions of the Festival will be the participation of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in a multi-faith, multi-cultural discussion on "Religion and Spirituality in the New Millennium" on April 11, 2000. The schedule also includes a piano teaching workshop on the April 10th and a programme for interactions between school children and musicians between April 12-15, 2000.

The Festival will feature renowned Indian musicians and artists such as Pt. Jasraj, Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Qawwals from Hyderabad and the Baul singers from Bengal, apart from others. The event will also bring together the diverse sacred music traditions from different parts of the world like Italy, Japan, Germany, South Africa, Estonia and Thailand, to name a few.
