Istanbul Doner
Claim this pageThe perfect affordable meal for the hungry traveller! Come indulge and savor the Indian twist to the classic Doner Kebab - your taste buds will thank you.
The doner, like the Greek gyro and the more commonly seen Middle Eastern Shawarma is packed with meat grilled on an upright, rotating spit. At Istanbul Doner, it's evident that the Turkish fast food staple has a strong following in Bangalore: the stacks of lamb and chicken are constantly being shaved down to a slender size. We like the mixed doner best at this tiny three-table eatery, filled with meat off both the stacks: the chicken pieces are succulent, while the lamb is crisper and more crumbly in the texture.
Unlike most streetside rolls, the doner isn't brimming with pungent onions instead, it's got a refreshing mix of chopped lettuce, red cabbage, cucumber and tomatoes. The guys behind the counter doodle on a garlic mayo and a homemade chilli sauce before folding your wrap over. They are generous with it, and mingled with the oil and juices from the meat, this is a drippy delight to bite into.
